Sitges – For Families and for Partying

Sitges has long been a popular holiday destination, in recent years it has been home to some of the best parties for the LGBT communities as well as a great family and couples resort. There is something for everyone in this fabulous coastal town – don’t spend every day relaxing in your villa with pool in the Costa Dorada, Sitges is bursting with energy, and with some of the best beaches and nightlife on the coast it would be a shame to miss it! Here are some of the fun places you could be exploring on your holiday in Spain.

The Golden Beaches
The Passeig Maritime is probably the most popular beach in Sitges, it’s the perfect place to sit with a glass of tinto de verano and watch the world go by. You will see cyclists, joggers and even roller bladers throughout the year trying to keep fit and making the most of the weather. Join them or indulge in one of the many water sports on offer on the beach. The boardwalk market stall holders will attempt to sell you a plethora of goods, you can haggle with them if you feel inclined, there are also wonderful, picturesque walks, children’s playgrounds and plenty of bars and restaurants to kick back and relax in. If you prefer your beaches to have a “clothing optional” tag, then the nudist beach at Cala Balmins may be just where you have been looking for. It’s at the northern side of the town and has three separate bays, some with bars and restaurants which can become crowded during high season.

See the Churches
The Church of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla offers up a marvellous view of the town and the Mediterranean. The narrow streets leading up to it create an atmosphere of Spain gone by with a plethora of street musicians and market stalls.

The Museums
The Museu Maricel is a surprise to all who visit; you can easily fill a morning or afternoon meandering around the fantastic sculptures, artwork, furnishings and decoration inside. It’s an impressive building which actually houses three museums in one! Alternatively try to visit the Museu Cau Ferrat with its pretty chapel and varied art collection; you will be spoiled for choice.

The Nightlife
There’s a huge variety of bars and nightclubs in Sitges, and if you fancy taking in a flamboyant show there are plenty of those available to book as well. Try the Casablanca Cocktail Bar and Art Lounge or El Piano, they are firm favourites and always exude that party atmosphere you look for on holiday.

The Costa Dorada is a popular area in Spain to visit, and Sitges is one of the more elegant and stylish resorts, if you do intend to book your Catalonia villa rental here, you won’t be disappointed.
