Although restaurant food has continued to grow more refined and complex, this new scene has come with the aim of injecting some simplicity into local dining in the city. Mercat de la Boqueria

 Located on the bustle La Rambla, this market is the most popular in Barcelona, offering a huge range of fresh food. It is a fantastic place to grab a bite to eat if you can find a place to sit at one of the many counter tops. From simple salads and sandwiches to snack cones and fresh juices, you can find it all here.

EL MEX

 El Mex is a bit of a household name when it comes to Barcelona street food. Inspired by South American flavours. The company doesn’t have a set location in the city, but if you get a Barcelona vacation rental around a special event or festival, then you are sure to find El Mex across the city.

 As the name suggest, all of these crafty sandwiches are served directly out the back of a ‘caravan’ in many locations around the city. Their offerings change with the seasons, so you can rest assured there will always be something new and exciting to try.
